Dentsply Sirona Launches Smart View – Detect, First FDA-Cleared AI Diagnostic Aid for Periapical Radiolucencies
Dentsply Sirona has launched Smart View – Detect, the first FDA-cleared AI-enabled diagnostic aid designed to detect teeth with periapical radiolucencies (PARLs) in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. This innovative tool, available through DS Core, enhances the detection sensitivity of PARLs by approximately 46%, facilitating efficient CBCT review and improving patient communication. Designed for use with both existing and new Dentsply Sirona CBCT systems, Smart View – Detect will be accessible starting May 12, 2026, supporting dental professionals in providing clearer consultations to patients.
Smart View – Detect is associated with a ~46% relative increase1 in detection of teeth with periapical radiolucencies (PARLs) and supports efficient CBCT review and clearer patient communication. Available through DS Core2, Smart View – Detect is compatible with both newly installed and existing Dentsply Sirona CBCT systems.
